Seleucid, n. and a.|sɪˈl(j)uːsɪd|
[f. L. Seleucid-ēs, Gr. σελευκίδης descendant of Seleucus, f. σέλευκος: see below.]
a. n. One of the Seleucidæ, or members of the dynasty founded by Seleucus Nicator (one of the generals of Alexander the Great) which reigned over Syria from 312 to 65 b.c., and subjected a great part of Western Asia.
b. adj. Pertaining to the Seleucidæ.
