catalytic, a.|kætəˈlɪtɪk| [ad. Gr. καταλυτικός able to dissolve, f. κατάλυσις catalysis.] Of the nature of, or pertaining to, catalysis; having the power of acting by catalysis. Also fig. catalytic cracker: the device in which catalytic cracking is carried out; catalytic cracking [crack v. 23]: the cracking of petroleum oils by a process using a catalyst.
