serendibite Min.|səˈrɛndɪbaɪt, sərɛnˈdɪbaɪt| [f. Serendib, Serendip, a former name for Sri Lanka + -ite1.] A borosilicate of aluminium, calcium, and magnesium, (Ca,Mg)5Al5BSi3 O20, found as bluish triclinic crystals in which iron often replaces some of the aluminium and magnesium.
