cavallard U.S. dial.|kɑːvəˈlɑːd, kæ-| Also caviarde, cavalyard. [corruption of cavallade, ad. Sp. caballada (kabaˈʎaða) caballada, in Texas and New Mexico.] ‘A term used, in Louisiana and Texas, by the caravans which cross the prairies, to denote a band of horses or mules’ (Bartlett).
