A unit of kinematic viscosity, one hundredth of a stokes.
1934Proc. World Petroleum Congress 1933 II. 508/2 As the unit of kinematic viscosity..the stokes and the derived centistokes have been adopted. 1937Jrnl. R. Aeronaut. Soc. XLI. 735 The two oils had nearly the same viscosity at 50° C., viz., 78 and 76 centistokes respectively. 1956Electronic Engin.
