† quadruplator Obs. [a. L. quadruplātor, (1) a public informer, (2) one who multiplies by four (see prec.). The exact origin of sense 1 is not certain, though there is probably some connexion with quadruplum a fourfold penalty.] a. A public informer. b. One who restores fourfold.
