sippy cup, n. Chiefly U.S. colloq. Brit. |ˈsɪpi ˌkʌp|, U.S. |ˈsɪpi ˌkəp| Forms: 19– sippie cup, 19– sippy cup [‹ sip v. + -y suffix1 + cup n.] A plastic cup or beaker, used esp. by young children, which has a lid with a spout which allows the liquid inside to be drunk but prevents spillage.
