Sjögren Path.|ˈʃɜːgrən| [The name of H. S. C. Sjögren, Swedish ophthalmologist, who described the condition in 1933 (Acta Ophthalm. Suppl. No. 2. 1–151); used after G. Sjögrens-syndrom (Weber & Schlüter 1937, in Deutsch. Arch. für klin. Med. CLXXX. 333).] Sjögren's disease or Sjögren's syndrome: a condition characterized by chronic inflammatory swelling of the salivary and lachrymal glands and by auto-immune antibodies in the blood.
