ˈcomminutor [Agent-n., in L. form, f. comminuĕre to comminute.] 1. An implement for pulverizing the soil after ploughing.
1859Jrnl. Agric. Soc. XX. i. 182 The land is previously ploughed, and then follows ‘the comminutor’. 2. A device for reducing the size of solid particles in sewage, consisting of a vertical slotted metal drum that rotates against one or more fixed cutting edges.
