‖ concerto grosso Mus.|konˈtʃɛrto ˈgrosso, kənˈtʃɛətəʊ ˈgrɒsəʊ| Pl. concerti grossi. [It., lit. ‘big concerto’.] A baroque concerto characterized by the use of a small group of solo instruments against the full orchestra; also, a modern imitation of this.
