‖ sovnarkhoz|ˈsɒvnɑːkɒz| Also Sovnarkhoz. Pl. sovnarkhozy, sovnarkhozie. [Russ. sovnarkhóz, abbrev. of sovét naródnovo khozyáĭstva, council of national economy.] In the U.S.S.R.: a regional council for the local regulation of the economy. These councils were introduced in 1957 and abandoned in 1965.
