‖ prie-dieu|pridjø| [F., lit. ‘pray God’.] a. A desk made to support a book or books, and having a foot-piece on which to kneel; a praying-desk, kneeling-desk. b. A chair with tall sloping back, for the same purpose; also, a chair of this form for ordinary use. Also prie-dieu chair.
