▪ I. † ˈcountermount, -mont, adv. Obs. [a. F. contremont, in OF. cuntremunt up-hill, up, contrariwise, f. contre against + mont mount, hill.] Up-hill, upwards, against the hill or slope; against the natural course or ordinary way. Also fig.
