Brit. |ˌkaʊntəˈtɛrərɪz(ə)m|, U.S. |ˌkaʊn(t)ərˈtɛrəˌrɪz(ə)m| [‹ counter- prefix + terrorism n.] Political or military actions or measures intended to combat, prevent, or deter terrorism, sometimes (in early use) with the implication that the methods utilized resemble those of the terrorists.
