Crown prince [tr. Ger. kronprinz, Da. kronprinds, Du. kroonprins, Sw. kronprins, etc.] The prince who is heir-apparent or designate to a sovereign throne, esp. in Germany and the Northern European countries. Hence Crown-ˈprinceship; Crown ˈprincess, the wife of a Crown prince.
