1845E. Wilson Anatomist's Vade Mecum (ed. 3) viii. 411 Posteriorly [the corpus callosum]..forms a thick rounded fold (splenium), which is continuous with the fornix. 1902D. J. Cunningham Text-Bk. Anat. 529 The massive posterior end [of the corpus callosum]..lies over the mesencephalon... It is called the splenium, and it consists of an upper and a lower part. 1968Passmore & Robson Compan. Med. Stud. I. xxiv. 44/2 The corpus callosum forms a prominent feature and its divisions into the rostrum, genu, body and splenium can be readily recognized. 1977Neurology XXVII. 688/2 If we infer that inferior splenium has a significant functional role in relaying visual verbal codes from the right to left cerebral hemisphere, a plausible corollary may be that color-valuing tends to use superior or dorsal splenium. |
