Cubomedusae, n. Zool. Brit. |ˌkjuːbəʊmɪˈdjuːziː|, U.S. |ˌkjuboʊməˈd(j)uzi|[see also Medusa n.] [‹ scientific Latin Cubomedusae (Haeckel Das System der Medusen (1879) 423, noting earlier (apparently unpublished) use in 1877) > n.1 + scientific Latin Medusa Medusa n.] With pl. concord. A group of cnidarians comprising the box jellyfishes; (also cubomedusae) animals of this group (collectively or individually), box jellyfishes. Formerly an order within the class Scyphozoa, the group is now categorized as the class Cubozoa.
