ramdohrite Min.|ˈræmdɔəraɪt| [ad. G. ramdohrit (F. Ahlfeld 1930, in Centralbl. f. Min., etc. A. 367), f. the name of Paul Ramdohr (b. 1890), Ger. mineralogist: see -ite1.] A sulphide of lead, silver, and antimony found as long, grey-black prisms.
1931Chem. Abstr. XXV. 2940 Ramdohrite is found as bluish, grey-black prisms in quartz with accompanying pyrite, stannite, sphalerite, jamesonite and pyrargyrite at the Chocaya la Vieja mine, Potosi [Bolivia]. 1954Amer. Mineralogist XXXIX. 161 Most specimens of andorite are syntaxic intergrowths of two distinct species, which have also been observed separately... We propose to call them andorite IV and andorite VI... Ramdohrite = andorite VI. 1972Mineral. Abstr. XXIII. 128/2 The dark phase is thus andorite whereas the light-coloured phase gives a new formula; the formula previously assumed for ramdohrite (Ag2Pb3Sb6S13) occupies an exactly intermediate position... The name ‘ramdohrite’ must be transferred to the Pb-rich phase with formula AgPb2SbS7. 1975Amer. Mineralogist LX. 621 Another solid solution includes the compositions of andorite (PbAgSb3S6), ramdohrite (Pb3Ag2Sb6S13), and fizelyite (Pb5Ag2Sb8S18). |
