And it only needs one major hurricane to make landfall to become a disaster.

The season produced 26 tropical cyclones, of which 21 developed into named storms; 13 cyclones attained hurricane status, of which three reached major hurricane status.

Of the 19 total storms, eleven became hurricanes, of which six attained major hurricane status.

The storm held onto major hurricane winds for 12 hours before subsequently weakening.
