Etymology: < chrono- comb. form + -tropic comb. form, after German chronotrop (T. W. Engelmann 1896, in Arch. f. die gesammte Physiol. 62 555).
Physiology.
Of, relating to, or affecting the rate of muscular contraction, esp. of the heart.
