Etymology: < Anglo-Norman and Old French covenable, cuvenable, early variant of convenable (compare con- prefix), < co(n)venir , co(n)venant , to agree < Latin convenīre to agree, come together: see convene v. In English convenable was further reduced to cov'nable , whence corruptly comnable , comunable , comenable adj., and conable adj. (Compare the forms of covenant n.) Ultimately the full form convenable was exclusively used in French and adopted also in English: see convenable adj.1
Obsolete.
