crimblev.

Brit. /ˈkrɪmbl/, U.S. /ˈkrɪmb(ə)l/
Origin: Of uncertain origin. Apparently formed within English, by derivation. Etymon: -le suffix 3.
Etymology: Origin uncertain. Apparently a frequentative formation in -le suffix 3, but the base is unclear. Perhaps compare creem v. 3 and forms at that entry (and compare also Eng. Dial. Dict. at creem v.1 4, 5), but the localization is very different. Derivation < an ablaut variant of the Germanic base of crumb adj. and cramp n.1 has been suggested (see etymological note at cramp n.1).
English regional. (Chiefly north-western).
intransitive. (a) To shrink, cringe; to shrink back; to avoid being observed. (b) To go back on an undertaking. crimble in the poke: to act in a cowardly fashion; = sense (b).
