Any of a group of fungal metabolites (designated A, B, C, etc.) that inhibit cellular activities such as motility and cytoplasmic cleavage by preventing the assembly and disassembly of actin filaments.The basic structure of cytochalasins consists of an indole nucleus and a macrolide ring.
