Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin allativus.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin allativus, designating the case expressing motion to or toward (1826 (in G. Renvall Lexicon linguæ Finnicæ) or earlier; earlier in sense ‘for bringing’ (15th cent. in a British source)) < classical Latin allāt- , past participial stem of afferre to bring to (see afferent adj.) + -īvus -ive suffix.
