Origin: A borrowing from Greek, combined with an English element. Etymons: Greek δίχρωμος , -ic suffix.
Etymology: < Hellenistic Greek δίχρωμος two-coloured ( < ancient Greek δι- di- comb. form + χρῶμα colour: see chrome n.) + -ic suffix. With sense 2 compare earlier dichromatic adj., dichroitic adj., and dichroic adj.
