Origin: A borrowing from Romani. Etymon: Romani dinilō.
Etymology: < Romani dinilō foolish, stupid (also as noun in sense ‘fool’), of uncertain origin.A suggested connection with dilinō , dinilō , past participle of daa- to give ( < Sanskrit dā- : see datum n.) poses semantic problems.
In Romany usage and slang (English regional (south-eastern)).
