Now historical and Welsh English (Gower).
A sweet baked egg custard tart containing any of various ingredients such as herbs, spices, nuts, fruit, or meat.

Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French doulcette.
Etymology: < Middle French doulcette testicle (c1470; French (rare) doucette ), folk-etymological alteration (after doux sweet) of an unattested derivative < dausse clove of garlic (14th cent. or earlier; < post-classical Latin dolsa (9th cent.), of uncertain origin) + -ette -et suffix1 (so called with reference to their shape).The β. forms show remodelling after classical Latin dulcis sweet (see dulce adj.).
Obsolete (English regional in later use).
Usually in plural: the testicles of a deer.
