Etymology: < post-classical Latin allusivus (13th cent.) < classical Latin allūs- , past participial stem of allūdere allude v. + -īvus -ive suffix. Compare French allusif (1624 in an apparently isolated attestation, subsequently from 1770). Compare slightly earlier allusory adj.
