释义 | dung gaten. 1. A gate through which dung and refuse are removed from a place (esp. a town or city); esp. (the name of) such a gate in the walls of the Old City of Jerusalem. Often with capital initial(s).The opening in the south wall of the Old City of Jerusalem currently referred to as the Dung Gate was built under Ottoman rule in the sixteenth cent; the Dung Gate of Biblical times (see quot. 1535) may have been located elsewhere.
