单词 abare
释义

abarev.

Forms: Old English abarian, Old English abored (past participle, transmission error), 1500s 1700s abare.
Origin: A word inherited from Germanic.
Etymology: Cognate with or formed similarly to Old High German irbaron to uncover, to declare (Middle High German erbarn ) < the Germanic base of or- prefix (compare a- prefix1) + the Germanic base of bare v.The following example probably shows a late Old English attestation of the word (in a 12th-cent. copy of a document composed a908), although it has alternatively been suggested that the manuscript reading may show an otherwise unattested adjective abūrod deprived of peasants, uninhabited (apparently < a- prefix1 + boor n. + -ed suffix2):lOE Let. of Bp. Denewulf to King Edward the Elder (Sawyer 1444) in W. de G. Birch Cartularium Saxonicum (1887) II. 282 Ðu [read ða] hit æst min laford mæ to læt, þu [read þa] wæs hit ierfælæas and mið æðnum folce aburod [prob. read abarod; L. destitutum]. The word apparently became obsolete at the end of the Old English period and was re-formed in the 16th cent.
