Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymons: Latin explōdent-, explōdere.
Etymology: < classical Latin explōdent-, present participle of explōdere explode v.
Phonetics. Now disused.
A consonant produced by stopping the airflow using the lips, teeth, or palate, and then suddenly releasing an outward flow of air; = plosive n.
