Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French fellique.
Etymology: < French fellique (in acide fellique : 1840 or earlier) < classical Latin fell- , fel gall (see fell n.4) + French -ique -ic suffix, after Swedish gallsyra (J. J. Berzelius 1827, in Årsberättelser om Vetenskapernas Framsteg, afgifne af Kongl. Vetenskaps-Academiens Embetsmän 302).Compare German Gallensäure (1828; after Swedish).
Biochemistry. Now historical and rare.
