Pertaining to or derived from ferns. filicic acid: a mixture of phloroglucinol derivatives obtained from the rhizome of various ferns (chiefly the common male fern, Dryopteris filix-mas), and one of the anthelmintic agents in the drug Male Fern (filix mas) (the name was originally given to the crude extract of the fern, now called filicin).
