Origin: Probably a borrowing from Kimbundu. Etymon: Kimbundu funji.
Etymology: Probably < Kimbundu funji cassava mush. Perhaps compare fundi n.1 and the West African forms cited at that entry.
In the Caribbean and Angola: a kind of porridge or dumpling made from cornmeal or cassava flour.Occasionally with reference to dishes in which other ingredients are combined with this (cf. quot. 1920).
