Origin: A borrowing from Greek. Etymon: Greek Ἑλληνικός.
Etymology: < ancient Greek Ἑλληνικός of or relating to the Hellenes or Greeks < Ἕλλην Hellene n. + -ικός -ic suffix. With use as noun compare ancient Greek Ἑλληνική Greek language (New Testament), use as noun (short for Ἑλληνικὴ γλῶσσα ) of feminine of Ἑλληνικός . See also Hellenics n.
