1894 Music Mar. 502 The two often play together, ‘a due’ being the term used in scores to indicate this conjunction of any two wind instruments.
1967 Listener 27 July 125/1 Tchaikovsky asks a good deal of the section, notably in requiring some of the trickiest passages to be played a due rather than solo—which would be easier to co-ordinate.
