1872 H. Watts Dict. Chem. Suppl. VI. 1063 Hyposulphurous Acid, H2SO2 (Hydrosulphurous Acid, Schützenberger)..is produced by the action of zinc on aqueous sulphurous acid.
1872 H. Watts Dict. Chem. Suppl. VI. 1074 Schützenberger calls his acid hydrosulphurous acid; but it is more consistent with analogy to designate it as hyposulphurous acid.
