单词 | asbo |
释义 | ASBOn. British. An anti-social behaviour order, a court order obtainable by local authorities which places restrictions on the movements or actions of a person who persisently engages in anti-social behaviour.Introduced under Section 1 of the Crime and Disorder Act in 1998 and first applied in 1999. ΚΠ 1997 Herald (Glasgow) 17 Nov. 7/1 The move would give Scotland's local authorities, who would be able to apply for Anti-Social Behaviour Orders (Asbos), greater clout in trying to deal with unruly tenants. 2003 Independent 16 Aug. 19/4 The ASBO is not a perfect instrument, but at least it offers the possibility that those who try to rule many an estate through intimidation, often including racial abuse, can be put before a court in a way that allows victims a voice. 2005 Daily Post (N. Wales) (Nexis) 2 Sept. 14 Some yobs laugh in the face of Asbos which, in some cases, ban them from doing what is illegal anyway. This is a new entry (OED Third Edition, December 2005; most recently modified version published online December 2021). < |
