The action, process, or practice of subjecting (a person) to an effusive demonstration of approval or affection, esp. as a means to gain trust, loyalty, or compliance. Later also in weakened sense: the action of displaying intense or effusive solicitude towards any person or group.Originally as a technique used by religious movements to recruit or retain members: see love bomb n. 2.
