Origin: Probably formed within English, by compounding. Etymons: marred adj., arse n.
Etymology: Probably originally < marred adj. + arse n., although in later use in sense 1 frequently associated with mardy arse n. at mardy n. and adj. Compounds.

1. A sulky, petulant, or grumpy person (in early use spec. a child.)
