In the ancient Mayan calendar: a period of 144,000 days, equivalent to 20 cycles of the katun (see katun n.).In the Mayan calendrical system for measuring absolute time, known as the Mesoamerican Long Count Calendar, the day forms the basic unit called kin. Twenty kins make a uinal (20 days), 18 uinals make one tun (360 days), 20 tuns make a katun (7,200 days), and 20 katuns make a baktun (144, 000 days). ΚΠ 1922 H. J. Spinden Anc.
