Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin meteorismus.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin meteorismus ( F. Boissier de Sauvages Nosologia Methodica (1768) II. 518) < ancient Greek μετεωρισμός lifting up, swelling < μετέωρος raised up (see meteor n.1) + -ισμός -ism suffix.
