Origin: From proper names. Etymon: proper name Michelin.
Etymology: < the name of André Michelin (1853–1931) and his brother Édouard Michelin (1859–1940), French industrialists, who founded the Michelin Tyre Company (Compagnie Générale des Établissements Michelin) in 1888, pioneered the use of pneumatic tyres on motor vehicles in the 1890s, and introduced a series of travel guides and road maps in 1900.
1. A proprietary name for: a rubber tyre manufactured by the Michelin Tyre Company.
