Origin: A borrowing from Latin, combined with an English element. Etymons: Latin microcephalus , -ous suffix.
Etymology: < scientific Latin microcephalus (see microcephalus n.) + -ous suffix. Compare earlier macrocephalous adj. N.E.D. (1906) gives only the pronunciation (məikrose·făləs) /maɪkrəʊˈsɛfələs/.
1. Small-headed; (Medicine and Physical Anthropology) having an abnormally small head; characterized by microcephaly; microcephalic.
