Cf. Millerism n.The Millerites finally assembled in expectation of the Second Coming on 22 October 1844 in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Etymology: < German Millerit ( W. Haidinger Handb. der bestimmenden Mineral. (1845) 561) < the name of W. H. Miller (see Miller n.2), who studied the crystals + -it -ite suffix1. Compare French millérite (a1873).
Mineralogy.
Native nickel sulphide, NiS, crystallizing in the trigonal system usually as brassy yellow or bronze-coloured crystals.
