Etymology: < French mistelle (1903) < Spanish mistela (1822), probably < Italian mistella < misto mixed (a1375; < classical Latin mixtus mixed adj.²) + -ella -ella suffix.

A variety of sweet white wine made from a mixture of unfermented grape juice and alcoholic spirits, used chiefly in making aperitifs and liqueurs.
