单词 molybdena
释义

molybdenan.

Brit. /mɒlɪbˈdiːnə/, U.S. /ˌmɑlɪbˈdinə/
Forms: 1600s–1800s molybdaena, 1600s– molybdena, 1700s–1800s molybden.
Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin molybdaena.
Etymology: < classical Latin molybdaena a kind of lead ore, also as the name of a plant < ancient Greek μολύβδαινα a kind of lead ore, angler's plummet (compare discussion s.v. plumbago n.) < μόλυβδος lead (see molybdo- comb. form2) + -αινα , suffix forming nouns. Compare Middle French molybdaena plumbago (1549; French molybdène (1605; compare molybdenum n.)).The form molybden is perhaps after German Molybdän or perhaps represents an anglicized form.
