Of or relating to the joint principalities of Moldavia and Wallachia.Originally independent feudal states, Moldavia and Wallachia were linked by joint rule under the Ottoman Empire from the 16th cent. and the Russian empire from the 18th cent., before uniting in 1861 to form Romania.
