Origin: A borrowing from German. Etymon: German Muckit.
Etymology: < German Muckit (J. von Schröckinger 1878, in Verhandl. der Kaiser-Königlichen Geol. Reichsanstalt 389) < the name of A. Muck , German mineralogist, who discovered the mineral + -it -ite suffix1.
Mineralogy.
An opaque, yellow resinous variety of retinite found in coal-beds in Moravia, in the Czech Republic.

Now rare. Perhaps Obsolete.
A bituminous plastic, esp. one made up of a variety of materials.
