Etymology: < mouse v. (compare sense 2b s.v.) + -le suffix. Compare earlier tousle v. N.E.D. (1908) gives the pronunciation as (mɑu·z'l) /ˈmaʊz(ə)l/.
Obsolete.
transitive. To pull about roughly; to dishevel. Also figurative.Frequently in collocation with tousle.
